5 Unexpected Ways To Wear Blue Eyeliner (For Women Over 50)
1. Dot Your Eyes
A tiny navy or cobalt dot placed right at the outer corner or below the pupil adds a subtle pop of color without a full liner look. It’s modern, playful, and surprisingly flattering on mature eyes.
2. The Under-Eye Wing
Instead of placing your wing on top, flip it underneath for a fresh 2026 twist. A navy or sapphire under-eye wing gently lifts the eye while keeping the upper lid soft and youthful.
3. The Ombré Wing
Blend blue with charcoal or brown to create a gradient wing that’s softer than a solid line. This technique adds lift, dimension, and a smoother finish that works beautifully on textured lids.
4. Less Is More Line
A barely-there, ultra-thin blue liner along the upper lashes gives brightness without looking “too much.” This look is ideal for everyday wear and helps define the eyes naturally.
5. Blue Tightline Boost (New one I created to match your theme)
Instead of lining your lash line, tightline in a deep navy to brighten the whites of the eyes and give a subtle, almost invisible enhancement — a great hack for women +50 who want definition without heaviness.

6 Ways to Wear Blue Makeup in 2026 (For the Modern Mature Woman)
Blue makeup is making a major comeback in 2026 — but not the frosty, dated blues of the past. Today’s blue is sophisticated, wearable, and incredibly flattering on women over 50. Whether you want something subtle for daytime or a bold look for evening, there’s a blue that enhances your confidence, brightens your eyes, and adds a touch of youthful energy without trying too hard.
Below are six modern, mature-friendly ways to wear blue makeup this year — each designed to celebrate your beauty and elevate your makeup routine.
1. Soft Navy Eyeliner for Natural Definition
If you’ve been using brown or black liner for years, navy is the 2026 upgrade you didn’t know you needed.
Navy eyeliner subtly enhances the whites of the eyes, making them look brighter and more awake — a major win for mature eyes. Why it works:
-
Softer than black
-
Lifts the eyes without harshness
-
Works beautifully with gray, silver, blue, and brown eyes
How to wear:
-
Use a creamy navy pencil along the upper lash line
-
Smudge slightly for a softer, more youthful finish
-
Pair with neutral eyeshadow for a polished daytime look
2. Smoky Sapphire Eyes for Evening Glam
A smoky eye doesn’t have to be heavy or overly dark. By replacing charcoal or black with a deep sapphire, you get smoky elegance that looks fresh and modern.
Why it works for mature women:
-
Sapphire adds radiance, not darkness
-
Creates depth without emphasizing texture
-
Makes evening looks feel updated and refined
How to wear:
-
Apply a matte taupe or gray as your base
-
Add sapphire to the outer corners
-
Blend gently to lift the eyes rather than close them in
3. A Pop of Sky Blue on the Lower Lash Line
This trend is fun, youthful, and surprisingly flattering when done softly — and it’s huge in 2026 runway looks.
Why it works:
-
Adds brightness
-
Opens the eyes
-
Gives a fresh, playful energy without overwhelming the face
How to wear:
-
Keep the upper lid neutral
-
Use a pencil or shadow to smudge a soft sky blue just under the lower lashes
-
Finish with mascara for balance
This is perfect for spring, summer, or anytime you want an effortless “wow” factor.
4. Blue-Toned Highlighter for a Modern Glow
If you love a radiant finish but don’t want sparkle settling into fine lines, a cool-toned, blue-tinted highlighter is your new best friend.
Why it works:
-
Gives skin a soft, youthful radiance
-
Blue undertones counteract yellow and sallowness
-
Looks fresh rather than glittery
How to wear:
-
Choose a cream formula with a subtle icy or pearl-blue shift
-
Apply to high points: cheekbones, brow bone, inner corner of eyes
-
Blend very well for a natural sheen
5. Monochrome Blue Lids in Sheer Formulas
Sheer washes of color are trending in 2026 — especially soft, veil-like blues. This gives mature lids color without heaviness.
Why it works:
-
Sheer formulas don’t settle into fine lines
-
Creates a delicate, modern wash of color
-
Works with all skin tones
How to wear:
-
Use cream or liquid eyeshadow in powder-blue, slate, or misty teal
-
Apply lightly with fingertips for an airbrushed finish
-
Pair with mascara and soft blush for balance
This is an amazingly easy everyday look.
6. Bold Blue Lips (Yes, They’re for You!)
Hear us out — not all blue lipsticks are bold or extreme. In 2026, blue-tinted glosses and sheer sapphire balms are extremely popular because they brighten the smile and cool down the complexion
Why mature women love this trend:
-
Makes teeth look whiter
-
Brightens the face
-
Offers a fresh, slightly edgy twist without looking costume-like
How to wear:
-
Choose berry shades with blue undertones
-
Or pick a sheer navy gloss layered over your favorite lipstick
-
Keep eye makeup soft for balance
It’s surprisingly flattering — and incredibly chic.
Final Thoughts
Blue makeup in 2026 isn’t about being bold for the sake of it — it’s about choosing shades and textures that enhance your natural beauty. From soft navy liners to airy blue shadows and cool-toned highlights, these looks flatter mature skin and bring a renewed sense of confidence and fun to your routine.
Blue is no longer intimidating — it’s empowering.
This year, let your makeup be a celebration of your strength, style, and timeless beauty. -

Tips For Wearing Makeup With Glasses
Wearing glasses doesn’t mean your makeup routine should take a backseat. In fact, with the right techniques, glasses can highlight your features and complement your overall look. Here are some practical tips to help you look radiant and confident behind your lenses:
1. Define Your Eyes
Glasses can sometimes obscure your eyes, so it’s important to make them pop. Use:
-
Eyeliner close to the lash line
-
Mascara that adds volume and length
-
Neutral or slightly shimmery eyeshadow to brighten the lids
2. Keep Brows Well-Groomed
Your brows frame your face and glasses. Well-shaped, filled-in brows help balance the frame and enhance your features. Use a brow pencil or powder for a natural look.
3. Adjust Your Foundation and Concealer
Glasses can draw attention to certain areas, so ensure your foundation is even and smooth. Use concealer to cover under-eye shadows that may show behind lenses.
4. Highlight Your Cheekbones
Since glasses sit on your nose and cheeks, adding a touch of blush or highlighter to the cheekbones can create dimension and radiance. Choose soft, natural shades for a youthful glow.
5. Choose the Right Lip Color
Glasses draw attention to your eyes, so a flattering lip color can balance your look. Neutral or soft rosy tones work well for everyday wear, while bold shades are perfect for a statement look.
6. Mind the Reflection
If your lenses have glare, keep your eye makeup bright and defined to prevent your eyes from disappearing behind reflections. Anti-glare coatings on glasses can also help.
7. Match Your Makeup to Your Frame Style
-
Bold frames: Keep eye makeup simple and add interest with lips or cheeks
-
Delicate frames: You can play with eyeliner and eyeshadow for a more dramatic eye look
8. Less is More for Mature Skin
For mature skin, avoid heavy powders around the eyes. Focus on hydrating formulas, cream blushes, and light-reflecting foundations for a natural, fresh finish.
Final Thoughts
Glasses don’t have to limit your makeup choices — they’re an accessory that can enhance your style and personality. By defining your eyes, highlighting your features, and choosing flattering colors, you can look polished, confident, and radiant every day.

Beauty is Truly Skin Deep
Have you ever heard the term Beauty is skin deep? well, it is actually true. your skin is THE largest organ of your entire body. our skin is unlike most of our internal organs. it’s our external organ that we wear on the outside of our bodies that people view each time they see us. our skin is the protective covering of our bodies. In addition, our skin prevents germs from entering our bodies and damaging our internal organs. people tell me all the time that I look younger than I am. I am in my mid 50’s and I have been told I look like I am in my late 30’s to mid-’40s. but a lot of how old or young we look has a lot to do with the lifestyle behaviors that can affect and impact our skin.
Unhealthy behaviors include Alcohol, smoking, stress, and sun exposure. a lot of these things affect our skin in major ways. and they also affect the process of how our skin ages.
Alcohol
Drinking alcohol enlarges a person’s blood vessels, which can temporarily redden or flush the cheeks. Chronic drinkers develop larger oil glands and blood vessels. This process results in the enlargement of the skin’s pores, particularly of the nose and chin.
Smoking
Smokers have more wrinkles around their eyes and mouths, especially since they’re continually tightening their lips around cigarettes. Tobacco and cigarettes can cause the skin to turn an unhealthy, unnatural color. My mother, God rest her soul, was an advent smoker since her young teenaged years. She had developed premature wrinkles in her As the nicotine from cigarettes can discolor your teeth it can also cause discoloration in your skin. I remember my mother constantly smoking in the house and seeing all the paint and wallpaper turn yellow. Imagine that being your skin. late 20’s.
We have all seen pictures of what it does to the coloring of a person’s lungs who smokes. Our lungs are an internal organ being affected by this unhealthy habit as our skin, being the external and largest organ being affected outwardly. The same occurs with drinking alcohol. As alcohol consumption affects internal organs such as the liver and the kidneys it too affects the outward organ of the skin. I myself am not a drinker or a smoker, which plays a huge part in my staying younger looking.
Stress
Stress plays a role in skincare, especially because many habits associated with stress hurt the skin. stress can lead to many different skin conditions such as acne and skin discoloration. Though I have never been a smoker or a drinker I have dealt with excessive stress in my life. During my late 20’s and early 30’s, I suffered from adult acne. Acne and other skin conditions can be brought on by stress.
And then there is
Sun Exposure
Today people are more aware of the damaging effects of the sun and there are a lot of products on the market that can give you that golden glow without the sun. I can hardly find any sunscreen available that is lesser than an SPF 8. and even that is too low. Most dermatologists recommend an SPF of 15 for non-burners. Most skincare products contain a certain level of SPF. Today, being in my mid 50’s and living in Florida I avoid the sun as much as possible. This also helps to maintain a youthful appearance.
Limiting your exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation while protecting your skin is the single most important thing you can do to maintain healthy skin. I was a sun worshiper in my younger years, and though I was always able to manage to achieve a gorgeous tan without burning most of the time, I could still notice the sun damage to my face.
all of the above are chronic unhealthy behavior patterns that cause the skin to age drastically.
there are some very healthy behavior patterns we can develop in our lives to maintain and keep our skin healthy, youthful and radiant, that include, Exercise, Nutrition & Water.
Not every beauty routine is in a bottle or a jar..our best beauty regimen should be in our behavior patterns, and how we take care of our skin from the inside out.
Exercise
getting the heart rate up and improving blood circulation, can help to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the skin which keeps the skin healthy, promotes collagen production, and promotes new skin cells which keep the skin looking glowing and is also helpful for anti-aging.
Nutrition
Eating a well-balanced diet helps ensure that your body gets all the vitamins it needs to maintain healthy skin. And last but not least and yet MOST important is
WATER
Water is the most important nutrient we should consume. The human body is anywhere from 55 to 75 percent water. Without water, we could not survive. It is recommended that people drink 8 glasses of water a day.
As there are many unhealthy and healthy behaviors we develop. The term beauty is skin deep is truly a statement that describes that beauty starts from the inside out.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SETTING SPRAYS
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SETTING SPRAYS
What is a setting spray and why should you use one? Do you find yourself confused by the huge array of beauty products on the market wondering what they actually do? Setting spray is definitely on my top 10 list of products that everyone should have in their makeup bag. Read on to find out why!
WHAT IS A SETTING SPRAY?
We’ve all had those days where we’ve left the house with our makeup looking flawless only to notice by lunchtime that our foundation or eyeshadow has started to smudge or fade.
Thankfully, a makeup setting spray is the perfect solution to this problem. These nourishing formulas work like a top coat for your face, preserving your look so that you won’t fall victim to creasing, flaking, or sliding—all it takes is a set-it-and-forget-it spritz and you’ll be left with a flawless finish that won’t be gone by lunchtime.
In my 7 Steps to a Flawless Face blog post I talked about all of my secrets to creating a flawless face, and setting spray was the last step. A setting spray can be applied to your entire face to help keep eye shadow, mascara, and lipstick from smudging, caking, creasing, and settling into fine lines.
Not only will the right setting spray help keep your makeup in place, but it can also help improve the look and health of your skin. Some feature ingredients that help brighten and hydrate skin, while others help control oil and shine.
Like most makeup products, the number of setting sprays on the market can be overwhelming. So today I am going to share my 2 favorite setting sprays that I use on my brides and recommend to all of my everyday women. Whether you’re looking for a setting spray that has the perfect finish, or one that works best for your skin type, your makeup will look great all day and night long with both of these picks-they both will make your makeup last at least 16 HOURS.
10 YEARS YOUNGER MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY

I also love that it leaves the skin sort of “youthful” looking.

7 Steps To Flawless Makeup That Lasts All Day
7 Steps To Flawless Makeup That Lasts All Day
If you’re anything like me, you’ve always longed for a flawless face. I have struggled in the past with acne and oily skin, and that combination is not one that usually yields a flawless finish. Luckily for you, I’ve tried just about everything out there, and if you haven’t realized by now-I share everything I know with my readers! Check out my 7 steps to a flawless face.
1. PRIME
The first step in the process is using a primer. I’m assuming that you’ve done your skincare regimen though 😉
The function of a primer is to help fill in imperfections. With your pores, your skin is like an orange peel. Primer will make it smooth like an apple! If you start with a smooth surface, it’s easier to create a flawless finish.
Does your makeup disappear by the end of the day? Primer creates a barrier between your skin and the foundation so it doesn’t just absorb in.
My Fav: Complexion Perfection Primer-An innovative formula that targets pores, fine lines and wrinkles, Complexion Perfection Face Primer visibly reduces the appearance of imperfections for even-looking skin that is prepped and primed. This oil-free, smoothing formula extends the life of your foundation for the perfect, flawless look.
2. FILL
Ok, back to analogies. But if you had a crack in your wall you’d fill it in with spackle before painting it right? You should do the same thing with your fine lines and wrinkles with a makeup filler.
My fav: Instasmooth-A powerful formulation that minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while perfectly smoothing the skin. This formula creates a veil over the skin’s surface, providing a soft focus effect. Antioxidant ingredients promote healthy skin while the mineral pigments reflect light away from fine lines and wrinkles.
3. COLOR CORRECT
Don’t just cover your imperfections, correct them! Use color corrector to conceal dark circles and discoloration, counteract redness, and brighten dull skin for an instantly-luminous, even-toned complexion. You’ll have better success correcting instead of caking on the makeup or concealer.
My fave: Color Correction Quad-All-in-one quad to color correct discoloration, conceal under-eye circles and minimize the look of imperfections. Delivers professional-quality results by neutralizing the look of skin tone to achieve a flat out flawless application. Available in two color combinations that can be mixed and matched to address any imperfection on any skin tone. It’s a creamy formula that is buildable and easy to blend, allowing you to customize your finish.
4. FOUNDATION
On to foundation! Notice this is the fourth step? I bet some of you just grab your foundation first as step one…trust me, the first few steps really don’t take much time. Foundation should match your neck and create a flawless finish for the rest of your products, so it’s important that you get this right! Get color matched by someone like me, or ME. I will also help you pick out the perfect formula based on your desires and skin type.
My fave: Custom Blend-You can literally create the PERFECT color, with any finish, coverage, and texture you desire for YOUR skin type. It seriously is THE best thing for your skin too and made JUST FOR YOU!
5. CONCEAL
I get asked this question often: Should I use concealer before or after my foundation? Always apply your foundation before applying concealer. Think about it…when you apply foundation first, it covers up a lot of imperfections on its own, cutting down the amount of imperfections you need to go back and spot conceal. If you had applied the concealer first, you would have ended up using a lot more concealer than you would have needed to and done twice the work. Also, if you apply foundation with a brush or sponge, you can move the concealer that you’ve already applied off of the targeted area (such a waste of time and product!).
Concealer can get heavy and cakey if applied too thickly so first see how much of the dark circles/blemishes/dark spots that the foundation can knock out on its own. Then take a step back and see if you need to go back with a thin layer of concealer directly on the areas. You might be surprised how little you need!
My fav: Motives Sculpting ConcealerDesigned to brighten, correct and give a soft-focus, blurring effect, the Motives Sculpting Concealer is unlike any other. A true multitasker, this full coverage concealer is great for brightening the under-eye area, highlighting the bridge of the nose, cupids bow and t-zone, or just helping to camouflage the appearance of redness, dark spots or breakouts. The lightweight, soft, cushiony formula melts into your skin, leaving behind a natural-looking matte finish and skin that feels as light as air. In case you were wondering, this product’s got you covered all day long!
6. SET
Setting powder is a godsend. It locks in foundation and concealer so that it doesn’t move and prevents creasing. Wearing it makes your makeup look even more flawless.
My fav: Motives Translucent Loose Powder– A silky-sheer translucent loose powder formulated to create a satin-smooth finish. Use it to minimize the appearance of pores and uneven surface texture while maintaining skin’s natural moisture.
7. FINISH
Setting spray (also finishing spray, makeup setting spray, finish spray, or makeup spray) is a cosmetic product designed to preserve applied make-up for long periods of time. Setting spray is applied by spritzing mist over the face, keeping the make-up application moist for several hours.
My favs: Yes I have 2 because it depends on your skin type. For normal to dry skin-10 Years Younger is my choice. A setting spray that mists on weightlessly to reduce makeup slippage and keep skin looking beautifully flawless. Save up to 50% of makeup usage with this unique spray. Keep your skin looking fresh throughout the day.
If you have combination or oily skin, No More Shine is for YOU! A setting spray that mists on weightlessly to control oil, deflect surface shine and keep skin looking beautifully matte. Oily skin has met its match! Keep your skin looking smooth — but never shiny — with this spray.

Top 5 Common Makeup Mistakes
Have you ever been putting on your makeup and when everything is going well, you suddenly make a mistake that ruins all of your effort? Have you had to take off your makeup some time because, without meaning to, you’ve ruined your makeup? Surely you have; it happens to all of us.
In this article, you will find five of the most common mistakes and the best tips to quickly fix them without having to take off all of your makeup.
“I’VE PUT ON TOO MUCH FOUNDATION”
This is a very common mistake that we all make when we put on makeup. If you are totally made up, to take off any excess foundation, do the following:
Lightly moisten a clean sponge with water (the sponge should be almost dry and without any makeup residue) and sponge all of your face with downward movements.
TIP: It’s very important, most of all, to avoid excess foundation and concealer around the eyes. To eliminate any excess in this area, perform the same step and afterwards use your fingertips to softly blur the product in that area.
“MY EYESHADOW LOOKS TOO DARK”
If you’ve put on too much eyeshadow, or it looks too dark, follow these steps to quickly fix the problem:
If it happened on your upper eyelid, blur the eyeshadow toward the edges with a clean brush to reduce the color. If it still looks very dark, apply a little bit of matte cream eyeshadow with a brush (if you don’t have cream eyeshadow, you can use translucent powder) and blur the eyeshadow.
If it happened on the lower part of your eye, use a fine, clean brush to blur, or pat it softly with a Q-tip.
If as you were blurring, you’ve left the contour of the eyelid and the shadow looks very dark, blur it with a clean sponge and afterwards apply a little bit of foundation, patting lightly to fix the foundation.
“I’VE PUT ON TOO MUCH BLUSH”
If you applied too much blush, try the following tip:
Stroke your cheek with a thick, loose powder bush—the brush should be completely clean. If you still have too much blush on, apply translucent or clear powder with the same brush, just over the blush. That way the two powders should mix, clarifying the original color.
“I’VE PUT TOO MUCH MAKEUP ON MY EYEBROWS”
When we put too much makeup on our eyebrows, we look harsh and we can’t even recognize ourselves. Follow the following tip to quickly solve this:
Simply brush the eyebrow with a clean Q-tip, going against the grain of your eyebrow. You will see how quickly the color you initially applied disappears.
“I’VE SMEARED MASCARA ON MY EYELID”
That’s all right. Just follow these next steps and you’ll see how you can quickly fix the problem:Continue applying makeup and when you have finished, allowing enough time for the mascara to dry, apply a Q-tip right over the smudge. You’ll see how it quickly disappears and you don’t need to remove the makeup from your whole eye.
A good trick to avoid smudging yourself is applying makeup first to your inferior eyelashes and then to the superior.
